Gardening and DIY projects

Since moving house last year, I have been on a bit of a mission trying to make the most of the cute little garden at the back of my Victorian end-terrace. This is my first real attempt at gardening and I will be updating on my progress as I go.

Not one to turn down a challenge, I am attempting to grow a range of veggies this year too. At risk of boring you to death, here's my planned harvest...

Broccoli, carrots, parnips, lettuce, strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, blackberries, onions, tomatoes, plums, peppers, chillis, courgettes and green beans! Phew!

This is my garden so far, since moving in I have replanted the lawn (big job!) and prepared the borders and hanging baskets. The flowers are beginning to bloom too, the hard work is starting to pay off.

With this being the first year, I wasn't sure what was going to start popping out of the ground! There are loads of bluebells which are looking beautiful at the minute. I have added lots more flowers to pots to brighten the place up. My aim is small but well formed!

My partner and I also decided to build a planter for my tomatoes as I was getting short on space in the borders. Although this is far from perfect, I am really pleased with how it has turned out. We used an old pallet, left to us by some builders next door, and carefully chopped it up and nailed it together.

I am lining it with old compost bags and filling with compost and organic fertiliser, just hoping that the tomatoes like their new home!
